Salem Co. Farm Pushes NJ Preservation Over 250K Acres

QUINTON TWP. — The NJ Farmland Preservation Program’s 40th anniversary was recently highlighted by moving past the 250,000 acres preserved mark state-wide.
The total acreage was pushed past the mark thanks to the 133.5-acre preservation of the Mecouch Farm. This marked the 2,847th farm to be preserved in the program.
Salem County has 408 farms preserved for a total of 43,341 acres. Cumberland County has 237 preserved farms equating to 22,330 acres. With this milestone, over one-third of New Jersey’s approximately 750,000 acres of farmland have been permanently preserved.
