BRIDGETON — To heighten awareness of child abuse and its consequences, the Exchange Club of Bridgeton is coordinating a giant Cumberland County Community Pinwheel Garden during National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.
The goal is to fill the garden with hundreds of blue pinwheels fluttering in the breeze throughout the month to convey a message of hope and action for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. Each pinwheel donated will help to celebrate children and their right to grow, learn and play in safe, loving, and nurturing environments.
County commissioners, the prosecutor’s office and community organizations devoted to addressing the social crisis of child abuse will join in a proclamation ceremony at the site of the pinwheel garden, on the lawn in front of the Cumberland County Library, 800 E. Commerce St., at 10 a.m. Monday, April 3. Individuals, organizations, businesses, health care providers, social service agencies, faith-based institutions and school groups are invited to contribute to the display and the ceremony.
Contact the Bridgeton Exchange Club at [email protected] to participate. Pinwheels are $5 each and blue ribbon cards are $1 each.
