Germination Sessions Slated by CU for Feb. 12 & 16

MILLVILLE — Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River & Its Tributaries and WheatonArts & Cultural Center have built a partnership based on developing environmental stewardship and creating outdoor educational spaces on the Center’s grounds. The results have been the installation of a variety of wildlife management features, the improvement of forest areas, the creation of an interpretative nature trail, and the construction of a massive rain and pollinator garden system. Last year the partnership transformed the traffic circle at the entry into a wildlife garden.
Now, CU is looking for volunteers to foster plants from seed until they are ready to be put in the ground. For those who would like to participate, germination sessions will be held virtual and in-person.
The first session will be held virtually at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 via Zoom. Participants will need to pick up materials for the session either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday prior to the germination session. The plants will then be brought back to in May to plant at WheatonArts.
Additionally, an in-person germination session will be hosted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at WheatonArts. Registration is required. Materials for this session will be given the day of and no scheduled pick-up is necessary. Plants will be brought back in May. Call 300-5331 for more information.
