READ TO A therapy dog 6:30-7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4 at Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Ave. The program is open to ages 6-12 and no pre-registration is required. Bookmarks featuring a photo of each dog will be given to each reader. All Puppy Tales dogs are registered therapy and R.E.A.D. dogs.

MATTHEW J. BARNES has been promoted to the rank of private two in the U.S. Army National Guard. Barnes is assigned to the 1st Battalion, 19th Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Okla. He has served in the military for eight years. Barnes is the son of Georganna R. Barnes. He graduated in 2008 from Vineland Adult Education Center.

VINELAND YMCA Seals swimmers Andrew Hartman, Shannon Dougherty, Rachel Simone, Kelsey DeMattte and Stephen Hartman swam with Coach Dennis DeMatte in the 1.3 mile Bridge to Bridge open water race from the Dorset Avenue Bridge in Ventnor to the Atlantic City Boat House, just past the Albany Avenue Bridge. The race was sponsored by the Atlantic City Aquatic Club.
ARMY NATIONAL GUARD Pvt. Matthew J. Barnes has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Georganna Barnes and is a 2008 graduate of Vineland Adult Education Center.

JENNIFER WEBB-MCRAE, Cumberland County prosecutor, announces that Bryan Klein entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to commit aggravated arson, a second degree offense on May 25. The juvenile was sentenced to two years in the custody of the Juvenile Justice Commission with one-third post incarceration supervision. The offense took place Jan. 11 at the Loyle Lanes Bowling Alley.
