I stopped at Shop Rite, and N.J. Motorsports Park had a racing car parked in front of the entrance where they were handing out bro­chures and discount coupons for the weekend of July 17, and advertising that Patrick Dempsey was go­ing to be there. 

I walked up to them and said, “Wow, that’s a beautiful car!  It would be even nicer if it had a muffler on it.” He looked at me strange, and asked me if I knew who Patrick Dempsey was, and I said yes…as a matter of fact, I am going to put a sign in my front yard. And he laughed, and said, “Why, you going to ask him to stop in?” I said, “No…

I’m going to say, ‘Patrick Dempsey…please buy my house, I can’t take the noise!’” 

We continued the conversation, and he asked where I live, and he mentioned the Boeing helicopters, and I said they only fly over once a week, and only for a few seconds. He also said their plans to quiet the noise is to plant trees, and that should take care of it. I said, that would not have any effect—we need sound barriers and mufflers to really make any difference. He said, “Hope you come to the race next weekend,” and I said, “I will be down the shore for the weekend, so I don’t have to listen to it.”
