Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts Exhibition Committee challenged tri-state area artists to exhibit their best work at or below $100. The show titled, From the Studio, which opens Friday, July 16 is not only an excellent way for artists to think outside of the box, but a rare opportunity for visitors to purchase original works of art for very affordable prices.

Artists were asked to bring in their work to be juried by the art center’s exhibition committee. Committee members were looking for originality, creativity and of course low ticket prices. This show’s concept came about as the panel and Board of Director’s took into consideration the current economy. Art is for everyone regardless of their financial situation. It was important for the RRCA to bring a show that accommodated all of our community members.

Across the hall, in the Witt Gallery guests will enjoy work from students in the RRCA’s summer ACE, Art Creates Excellence, program. Students aged 7-18 engage in artistic enrichment for five weeks beginning July 6 and running through Aug. 8. Throughout their time at the center, the students work will rotate in the gallery. Guests can expect to see photography, ceramics, acrylic paintings, sketches and sculpture.

In the Associate Artist Alcove, RRCA artists Shirley Hawthorne, Emily Luertzing and Christina Sanes will exhibit their work. This fine group of artists works in a variety of mediums including manipulated photography, mixed media and oils.

Finally, the Atrium space will exhibit for the first time the works of artist, Indira Servaia. Servaia is a painter from Mount Laurel who works with a variety of traditional subjects.

All of the above shows open with a free reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 16 and run through Saturday, Aug. 14. The RRCA would like to thank this month’s generous sponsor, Steven Sammartino.

The center is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday 11-7pm. Visit www.rrcarts.com or call 856-327-4500.
