VINELAND — The administrator of the Vineland-Millville Urban Enterprise Zone is calling on the business community to help save the UEZ program from financial extinction.

“We need you, the business community, to rise up and fight to save the UEZ Program,” says administrator Denise Jackson in emails to area businesses. “We would like you to write a letter to Gov. Christie about what the UEZ benefits mean to you and the economic hardship it will cause if he should decide to end the Vineland/Millville UEZ program.

“Please respond as soon as possible, since we would like to make a statement before the governor makes his budget address on March 16.”

Christie has indicated terminating or drastically reducing funding to the UEZ programs statewide in order to help balance a state budget in need of billions of dollars in cuts.
