Since its inception in 1969, Cumberland County Technical Education Center has provided a licensed practical nursing program renowned throughout New Jersey. This is much to the commitment and tenacity of its teaching faculty. At the core of CCTEC and its staff is a passion to develop the highest quality LPNs to provide the best care to Cumberland County area residents.
Over the past 40 years, the CCTEC nursing faculty has specialized in “going above & beyond” encouraging and assisting all students in overcoming obstacles both in and out of the classroom with the goal being to maximize student success.
The results are astounding!
CCTEC’s LPN program is unique in that:
• all students must be Cumberland County residents.
• Graduates annually pass at a rate well over 90 percent.
• In most years, 100 percent of all LPNs are employed within three months of graduation.
CCTEC LPN graduates are also eligible to earn up to 22 college credits from the University of Medicine & Denistry of New Jersey.
Over three quarters of CCTEC LPN graduates become registered nurses within five years. They attend many schools including but not limited to Cumberland, Salem, Atlantic and Gloucester County colleges; and Drexel, Stockton and Wilmington universities.
The 111⁄2-month LPN CCTEC training journey is not an easy one.
Students go through intensive medical training to complete their certification. They spend 50 percent of their time at clinic sites from hospitals to rehab units; nursing homes to surgical centers; and doctor’s offices all over South Jersey for real world hands-on experience.
“I am honored to work with what I believe to be the finest nursing faculty on the Eastern Seaboard!” said CCTEC Principal, Dr. Bonsall. “Their focus on being and preparing the best nurses that they can be is unparalleled.”
“This program has always been known as the premier Cumberland County LPN program and our graduates are sought by many different caregivers,” says Darlene Barber, CCTEC superintendent.
“It is a tribute to our county workforce that Cumberland County residents— many of whom are unemployed, single-parent students in need—work hard and learn to become a contributing member of the Cumberland County community.
“I commend this faculty for instilling the compassion, knowledge and successful mindset to over 1,000 students this past 40 years.”
