Another snow storm with blizzard conditions has swept Cumberland County and surrounding areas. This is the third major storm slamming southern New Jersey this winter. Plows are again out in full force to clear the main arteries and roadways. Emergency management offices and local town officials have requested a state of emergency to be issued and has all non-essential personnel ordered off the streets. Officials are trying to allow emergency vehicles access to the roads.

As the winds, in excess of 40 miles an hour, whip through the region, many businesses are closed and pedestrians and commuters seemed to take heed warnings to stay at home. Many trees and wires are down with some loss of power reported in various locations.

Statewide, over a thousand plows and salt trucks have been deployed to major highways, including Route 55.

Gov. Chris Christie along with state police officials have authorized all state offices closed, along with administrative offices and courts to be closed. All area schools are closed including Cumberland County College and all events and organization meetings have been cancelled.
