VINELAND — Wallace Middle School is hosting its first fitness-themed Family Fun Night 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the school, 688 N. Mill Rd.
The event, which is open to the community, will feature nutritional information from the Vineland Health Department, and a cooking demo and dining session with chef Rob Buono from The Greenview Inn at Eastlyn Golf Course.
Stations will also be set up in the school gym to give families a briefing on different types of exercise routines appropriate for the entire family.
Families can also register to compete in a Smartest Loser contest, based on inches, not weight. Prizes include a Wii Gaming system with a Wii Fit component and a family gym membership to the YMCA.
Registration will be conducted at the door for walk-ins. Water bottles and a low- fat goodie bag will be given to each family.
Funds for this have been provided by an NJEA PRIDE grant.
The schedule for the evening:
• 5:45 to 6 p.m. -Vineland Health Department Nutrition Information in the auditorium.
• 6. to 6:45 p.m. - Cooking Demo “Low Fat Meals and Snacks”- Chef Rob Buono (cafeteria)
• 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. - Workout stations, highlighting various workout routines (school gym)
• 7:30 to 8 p.m. - Families sign on to compete.
