CARMEL — For the first time in nearly 40 years, the Cumberland County Jewish community will be celebrating the opening of a newly constructed facility.

Congregation Beth Hillel-Beth Abraham of this community just outside of Millville will officially dedicate the new Milton Stotter Memorial Hall 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11.

The 21st century addition to the landmark historic building provides the growing congregation with new space for community events and educational programs.

The original synagogue, built in 1908 is listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks.

The Milton Stotter Memorial Hall was made possible after the merger of Beth Hillel with Congregation Beth Abraham of Bridgeton. The new Beth Hillel-Beth Abraham brings together two great historic congregations, and the new space will allow TBH-BA to grow for years to come.

The first night of Hanukkah was fittingly chosen for the dedication because Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in 165 B.C.

The celebration on Dec 11 will include the lighting of the Hanukkah Menorah, dedication ceremonies, entertainment and refreshments.
