Runway of Dreams is a nonprofit organization working towards a future of inclusion, acceptance, and opportunity in the fashion industry for people with disabilities. This year it joins New York Fashion Week, a one-of-a-kind adaptive fashion show and gala, presented by Kohl's on Thursday, Sept. 9 at The Glass House (660 12th Ave., New York City).
The son of Michael and Paula Ferrari, Augustus was selected for this honor as a client of Gamut Management.
“He was selected from a talent pool of 500-plus,” Paula said. “Augustus is very happy about this opportunity. He loves modeling. He is always so happy when we tell him it is time to have his picture taken.
“He absolutely lights up when he is working and is a natural entertainer. Working in the modeling industry is not only fun for him but fulfilling for us as his family to help show his talents and abilities with the world.”
Celebrating inclusion, applauding innovation, and highlighting change in the fashion industry, the Runway of Dreams Foundation's fashion show will feature over 50 models with varying disabilities, ethnicities and backgrounds. The Fashion Revolution event is the only time mainstream brands such as Kohl's, JCPenney, Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive, Zappos Adaptive, Stride Rite, and Target, will showcase their adaptive clothing on the same runway.
“We are so honored that he has been selected,” Paula said. “It is so exciting that he will have this once in a lifetime opportunity as not only a model but as a member of the Down syndrome community.
“Augustus has been modeling since the age of 2, but working with Gamut Management is such an incredible opportunity because they are a talent management company exclusively for people with disabilities.”
