Free Produce Vouchers Available for Senior Citizens

BRIDGETON — Vouchers for the USDA Senior Citizens Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program are being distributed, according to the Cumberland County Office on Aging.

Eligible seniors must apply for the Farmers’ Market Coupons in the county in which they reside. They will receive $25 worth of vouchers to purchase Jersey Fresh items at eligible farmers’ markets. Cumberland County will offer three sites for seniors to apply: County Office on Aging Office at 800 East Commerce Street, Bridgeton, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday; Fiorelli Senior Center, 6th and Elmer streets, Vineland, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; Holly City Regional Center, 1500 S. 2nd St., Millville, 9 a.m.-noon Mondays and Fridays.

Seniors must be age 60 or older. Income guidelines have been established at 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. A household of one can have a monthly gross income of up to $1,926 and household of two can have a monthly gross income of up to $2,607. Proof of residence, age and income is required.

Coupons are available on a first-come first served basis and supplies are limited. For more information, please contact the Office on Aging and Disabled Outreach Office in Bridgeton at 453-2220.
