Petway Elementary School students and staff in Vineland are close to reaching their goal of $1,000 to help “Restore the Shore” after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, according to Principal Jennifer Frederico. In addition to the fund-raising, the school donated food and needed supplies for immediate distribution to families in need. Some teachers at the school also went to Sea Isle City and helped clean up the community. Petway’s Community Giraffe Hero is the NJ Hometown Heroes program, a non-profit organization that is managing the “Restore Our Shore” campaign. Leading a hand to the restoration are from left: Eric El, and Patricia Ocasio (fifth grade); Nick Vastano, Lizzy Vastano, and Andi Dunlap-Vastano (third grade); John Vastano and Steven Calakos (fourth grade; and Angella Doulis and Katrina Doulis.
