First SJ Apple Fest Slated

MILLVILLE — The South Jersey Apple Fest, a two-day event that will celebrate all things apples, is coming to the Cumberland County Fairgrounds, 3001 Carmel Road, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 & 8.

The festival will be packed full of delicious treats from apple pies, apple doughnuts, candy apples, apple bread, apple fritters, apple salad and of course, apple butter. Bakers are invited to enter their best apple dessert in the “Everything Apple Dessert Contest” set for 2 p.m. Sept. 7.

In addition to everything apples, there festival will feature a craft show display of works from over 75 talented artists and crafters. There will also be a fall home show offering savings on hundreds of products and services.

Family fun includes live bands, hayrides, festival food, free craft making for children, facepainting, pin the apple on the tree, apple pie eating contest, pony rides, and more.

A Little Miss Apple Pageant will also be showcased for girls ages 5-9 years old on Sept. 8.

The South Jersey Apple Fest is a pet friendly event. Parking is free. General admission is $3, $2 for seniors and kids 6 and under are free.
