BRIDGETON — Family Promise of Cumberland County, a grouping of 19 congregations, who assist homeless families and allow them to remain together while they work out a means of self support, is prepping a day center at 29 N. Pearl St. in the city.

The building belongs to Bethany Grace Community Church and the upper apartment is furnished with a kitchen and laundry appliances. It also offers ample space for the director’s office and living space for guests.

Repairs and cleaning need to be completed prior to final approval to move in. Volunteers interested in helping or making a donation should contact their congregation’s coordinator or call the following furnishing coordinators:

Other needs include a 15-passenger van for transporting families (clean and good condition) and four car seats (infant-100 pounds), volunteers for the garden/yard, the office, and grand opening celebration.

The next board meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 at Lutheran Redeemer, 2384 E. Landis Ave., Vineland, and the quarterly coordinators’ meeting is slated for 6:45-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Day Center, 29 N. Pearl St., Bridgeton.
