Holocaust Memorial Concert

A Holocaust Memorial Concert including music by Ernest Bloch, Dmitri Shostakovich, and songs of the Holocaust will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6 in the George P. Luciano Sr. Theatre, in the Frank Guaracini Jr. Fine and Performing Arts Center at Cumberland County College. Acclaimed Israeli soprano Raya Gonen will be joined by pianist Matthew Bengtson, violinist Ruotao Mao, and cellist/pianist Michal Schmidt in Nigun from “Baal Shem” by Bloch, that composer’s Three Scenes “From Jewish Life,” Shostakovich’s Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 67, and songs written by and based on lyrics of persons who perished in Theresienstadt and other concentration camps during the Holocaust.
