An amusing dark comedy by Neil Simon. The problems experienced by Mel and Edna Edison uncannily mirror what is happening in our country today; recession, unemployment,  financial instability. Simon sets his play in a strike-ridden New York City, where unemployment is high. Mel has lost his job as an advertising executive after 22 loyal years to the same company.  Trying to deal with noisy neighbors, a summer heat wave, and a garbage strike add to the tension and the blow to his pride sets him on a whirling path to a nervous breakdown. The pressures of being in a rat race can eventually drive us all nuts. Much to Mel’s chagrin, Edna goes to work to help pay the bills and ends up close to having her own breakdown.  Mel’s sisters, brother and Edna provide the loving care that is able to  bring Mel back.
