Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem Counties will commemorate Tu B’Shevat with a seder at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the federation, 1015 E. Park Ave. The seder, which will take place in conjunction with federation’s regular adult culture and trips luncheon, will be an opportunity to learn about and taste fruits and wine from Israel. Tu B’Shevat, the 15th day of the Jewish month of Shevat, is the Jewish Arbor Day or the “New Year for Trees”—a day for rejoicing in the fruit of the tree and the abundant gifts of the natural world. Eating a festive meal including fruits is customary on this holiday, as well as the planting of new trees. Reservations are $8 per person for Federation members and $10 per person for non-members. Reservations must be made no later than Wednesday, Jan. 16, by calling the Federation office at 696-4445.
