Want to be the substitute teacher that other teachers request? Cumberland County College will offer a one-day training seminar 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 that prepares substitute teachers, or serves as a refresher in-service program for substitutes that are currently employed by local school districts. Students are required to have a minimum of 60 college credits before applying to become substitute teachers. This seminar is also a good course for those who are employed or are thinking of employment as a paraprofessional. The training seminar covers professionalism in and out of the classroom, classroom management, professional interactive relationships, instructional techniques and lesson plans, gaining and sustaining appropriate rapport with students, and the application and certification process.
